Someone before asked
"Why the caged bird sings"
And the answer
Couldn't matter less.
What is of concern
Is the world outside,
What is not in the cage
Rather than what is
The people, they watch
They jeer
They poke and prod,
Pushing the Bird to the
Edges of its wits
For no one will stop
To question
The solitude of imprisonment.
The jungles still grow
The birds still nest
Time trundles on
Still, the isolation persists.
And torment too
Poor Bird,
You deserve better.
The people though,
They can act no different
For they have their own cage.
It traps their actions,
Shackling them,
Forcing a pattern of movement.
It plans their words
And anything outside
The confines of these prison rules
Means certain retribution,
So I'll apologize Bird,
For what happens to you
It isn't your fault;
It's the world's.
