For Egypt, For Freedom

This cage was fucked since our mouths opened.
Our shouts shook the world.
They broke the bars of our captors
and the backs of our masters.
They broke the chains
that held down our arms
and bound our movement.
Fuck the shackles
that existt in the fires of our hearts.
You will not take this from us;
you cannot steal my soul,
because the voices of the soul
culminate in the moment
when all burns beneath our grasps
just to begin anew.

8.14 FEB 7 2011

the rush of you against the wall
of me against you
the glint in your eyes is worth
the trials of the day
just to get here to this moment
and I can't tear away

the cold is biting deep

the cold is biting deep with
and the light refracts through water
Falling quickly from the distant heavens
the absent heavens
or something like the heavens
staring with eyes
black like an insect
crawling up the skin
pouring out its morphine to numb my flesh
there is nothing to feel
other than what I choose to feel (nothing)
and I can't let this go
whether pain, or something else,
I'll never let it go
no matter how deep I am
in the freezing snow
this memory deep inside
flashes bright
it flashes bright until all I see
are beetle black eyes.

Metaphysical Erosion

Shuffling down the street
you're some ways behind me,
off back there. I'm thinking
we used to crunch
the leaves beneath our feet.
With hand in hand,
yours in mind,
with a wedding band,
that held the crumbling
statue together.
But that's all since eroded
away to hopeless dust.
If only I could just
multiply negative to
the negative presence
between us. But that is
impossible.
I'd only create for
myself more distance
in the longing cold.
Sunless marble weighs
down my chest,
and I've no idea where
all the years went.
They were loud enough
and then -
silence.
All of a sudden
hate is a comfort
to being alone.

Bare as bone

more stripped down
than a candid painting
of a girl in -
bare as bare
visceral, no shining lights
this city shut down
just a structure to explore
please, please
no labyrinth of words
just simple
one...two...
and at the most basic
we are the most alive
in the atoms
that make up my body
the electricity runs
and I'm constantly awake
to what you do to me.

Have you ever tried

Have you ever tried to know more thank darkness?
You have to look the light in the eyes
Open-faced stare
Blind yourself from the intensity
So that an eye dies
Not death with decay and flies
The likes of which wouldn't dare
To steal the skin to wear -
More than the darkness is the absence of reality
And I'm stuck in this flesh
Too scared of an escape
And too lost in the world.
