Poem 6

On the porch
I smoke my
Last cigarette

The warm air and
Your warm words
Fill me up inside

They refill the spaces
Left by my
Eroding emotions

You let me speak
All that was in
My mind

The fears,
The anxieties,
You understood perfectly

For that moment,
As the crickets sing
I am not alone.
